  38. Installation:
  39.  
  40. Copy the Holiday Lights file to a directory of your choice.  To run
  41. the program, you may install the icon to the Program Manager
  42. (using the File|New menu option) or you may double-click on the
  43. file (LIGHTS.EXE) from File Manager.  The lights will be hung
  44. from the top of the Windows desktop and an icon will be placed
  45. on the desktop.  To change the xmas lights options, simply
  46. double-click on the icon at the bottom of the screen.

  49. Settings:

  52. Flashing Mode:
  53. ==============
  54. None:         Select this to leave lights on (no flashing).
  55. Random:       This allows lights to flash independently.
  56. All At Once:  All lights flash on and off at the same time.
  57. Chase:        Lights "chase" each other.
  58. Alternating:  Every other light in the string is on at the same time.
  59.  
  60. Bulbs:
  61. ======
  62. Check these options to simulate real-world burnt-out and broken light bulbs.
  63. You may also select the bulb type from the combobox.  Note that the broken
  64. option only works with the normal bulb type.
  65.  
  66. Flash Rate:
  67. ===========
  68. Selects the speed at which the lights flash.  Use the slider control
  69. to change the flash rate.
  70.  
  71. Color:
  72. ======
  73. Selects the colors of the light bulbs.  The first option allows random
  74. colors for each light.  The last two options allow red & green or
  75. multi-colored light sets.  You may also select the options which use
  76. the same color bulb for the entire string of lights.

  78. Power:
  79. ======
  80. Turns the lights on/off.

  82. Screen Saver:
  83. =============
  84. Allows you to select and configure custom screen saver options for
  85. Holiday Lights.  Select a type from the list and ensure that the
  86. Enable checkbox is checked.  The Setup pushbutton will configure
  87. screen saver options and the Test button will show you what the
  88. screen saver looks like when operating.

  90. Music:
  91. ======
  92. Allows you to select one or more background music files to be played
  93. when Holiday Lights is running.  Music will be played if MIDI files
  94. are available in the same folder as Holiday Lights and if you have
  95. a sound card which is capable of playing MIDI files.

  97. Misc:
  98. =====
  99. More Lights: Check this to have more lights on the screen.
  100. Zoom F/X: Check this to see window "zoom" effects.
  101. Sound F/X: Check this to have controls have "click" sounds when clicked.
  102. Flash LEDs: Check this to have your keyboard LEDs flash in sync to the
  103.             Holiday Lights.  (Note that this can provide frustration when
  104.             attempting to type in a word processor while the Caps Lock
  105.             status keeps changing.)

  108. Pressing the "Help" pushbutton on the settings dialog to show this
  109. information.
